Pool House Perfection

A well designed swimming pool and pool house can transform your property into a five star resort. An imaginative design can transport you to a totally different environment, without ever leaving home. We’ve found that creating that perfect resort experience requires a combination of creativity and attention to detail.

Not too close…not too far

Finding the perfect setting for a new swimming pool and pool house can be tricky. Ideally, the setting should afford a wonderful view, yet not be in view of the house in the off-season. The location should be far enough away to create a separate unique environment, yet close enough for convenience.

Setting the style

This pool house takes its cues from the surrounding historic barns of the property, interpreting them in a more contemporary vocabulary. The simple classic salt-box form is clad in silver weathered siding and punctuated by crisp contemporary copper overhangs and lanterns.

Blur the lines between interior and exterior

A successful pool house offers a shady retreat, close to the action. This pool house is designed to blur the lines between interior and exterior, with fully retractable glass panels facing the pool. The bluestone paving of the pool terrace extends into the building, creating a porch-like interior.

Pools aren’t just for swimming

In designing a pool, we’re often accommodating a variety of activities: lap swimming, playing games, lounging or soaking. This pool features an unobstructed length for laps, a large shallow end for games and broad platforms for lounging. The submerged central spa affords panoramic views.

Use plantings to create outdoor rooms

Lush tropical plantings create a resort-like atmosphere, contrasting with the surrounding property. The pool terrace is framed with tall grasses which provide privacy and capture the breeze.

A copper shower is nestled in a tropical rain forest of banana plants. A hammock, nestled in a crescent of of Russian Sage and Black-eyed Susans, is a favorite shady destination.

The sweeping curves of the landscape contrast with the simple geometry of the pool house.

Have some fun

The simple, elegant interior of bleached pine boards and bluestone slabs is highlighted by playful contemporary lighting, sleek furnishings and bold fabrics.

Don’t forget the essentials

Having plenty of convenient storage for towels and pool toys is essential. A small laundry avoids trips back to the house with towels and a powder room is a must.

Extend the season

A pool house can offer year-round use. A cozy gas fireplace makes the gym in this pool house a favorite destination throughout the year.
